Orchidantha insularis has been rediscovered around the Mt. Diaoluo, Hainan Island, China, and the collections are reported here as the first time since the type gathering by F. C. How in 1935. A revised description of this species is presented, especially its inflorescence was found completely different from the past. The pollen and seed character are reported for the first time, which are similar to those of the two relatives, O. chinensis and O. chinensis var. longisepala that occur in mainland of China. Additionally, the chromosome numbers of three taxa are also discussed.
