A new species of Gesneriaceae, Primulina melanofilamenta Ying Liu & F. Wen from Guangxi, China, is illustrated and described here. Its morphological distinctiveness from the most similar species P. eburnea and P. atroglandulosa mainly lie in that the color of corolla and filaments, the hairs of anthers, the length of staminodes and the hairs of styles are different two congeners. The somatic chromosomes of P. melanofilamenta are also reported (2n = 36).
