Typification of the Linnaean name Ononis crispa and its related O. zschackei (Fabaceae)

Ferrer-Gallego, Pedro; saez, llorens; Laguna, Emilio ; Rosello, JosepThe typifications of the Linnaean name Ononis crispa and its related O. zschackei (Fabaceae) are discussed. Original material for O. crispa was traced at LINN, but it is heterogeneous and belongs to two different species (e.g., O. aragonensis and O. natrix). Also the Magnol’s illustration cited in the protologue and used by Linnaeus for the description of this species belongs currently to another species. The name is lectotypified using a specimen preserved at LINN to preserve the current usage of the name. In addition, to avoid any ambiguity in the interpretation of the lectotype, an epitype is also selected. On the other hand, since no original material is extant for the name O. zschackei, a neotype is designated from a specimen preserved at P and collected in Mallorca (Balearic Islands, Spain).
