A new species of the Ranunculus auricomus complex (Ranunculaceae) from central Apennines (Italy)

Conti, Fabio; Bartolucci, FabrizioA new species, Ranunculus giordanoi, belonging to R. auricomus complex is described from Latium, central Apennines (Italy). It grows in damp meadows and pastures on Monti della Laga (National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga), the biggest sandstone massif of central Italy. The new species differs from the closely related R. silanus, endemic of to Sila (Calabria, southern Apennines), by leaf aperture, the morphology shape of the basal leaves, for the cauline leaves entire or sometimes deeply lobed cauline leaves, gynoclinium without intervallum and longer carpellophores more evident.
