Carex sinosupina sp. nov. (sect. Lamprochlaenae, Cyperaceae) from Gansu, North Central China

Lu, Yi-Fei; Xiao-Feng, JinCarex sinosupina, a new species from Gansu, China is described and illustrated. This species is similar to Carex aridula and C. ivanoviae, but differs from the two closed species in having broader leaves, 2–3.5 mm wide, perigynia 3–5-veined abaxially and achenes concaved at the middle of one lateral surface. Based on field survey and the observation of micromorphology of perigynia and achenes of the new species, Carex aridula and C. ivanoviae under SEM (scanning electron microscope), the comparison of the morphology and micromorphology of perigynia and achenes both from type and other specimens was conducted.
