Amomum hainanense (Zingiberaceae), a new species from Hainan, China

Amomum hainanense sp. nov., a new species of the genus Amomum (Zingiberaceae), is described and illustrated from Hainan Province, China. The species is closely related to A. repoeense and A. plicatum, but can be distinguished from the latter by having low plant height，few flowers open at once (only two), membranous ligule and less winged fruit ridges (only 6-8). The species is known only from Hainan Island.
