Fritillaria avromanica (Liliaeceae), a new species from Iran and notes on F. melananthera in Turkey

Advay, Mahfooz; Tekşen, Mehtap; Maroofi, HoseinF. avromanica, is described as a new species in Iran. The specimens were collected from Hawraman. Taxonomic descriptions, illustrations of the new species, geographical distributions, habitat and ecology, conservation status of the new species and its affinity to F. assyriaca and F. melananthera are given. The new species is endemic to Hawraman in Iran. Also F. melananthera is evaluated as a species instead of subspecies of F. assyriaca. The differences between F. melananthera and F. assyriaca are discussed with pollen and chromosomal characteristics.
