Manihot allemii M.J. Silva is here described, illustrated, and has its morphological affinities and conservation status discussed. It is most morphologically similar to M. salicifolia Pohl in having subshrubby and erect habit and in the general aspect of the unlobed leaves, but differs from it in having leaves conspicuously petiolate, inflorescence a spike-like thyrse, congestous, bracts and bracteoles of flowers on both sexes entire and diminute, pistillate calyx deeply lobed with lobes oblong, and staminate flowers with 8 or 10 stamens. Both species belong to a group of 14 species recognized by entire and unlobed leaves, which is the main goal of the taxonomic studies of the second author. Some notes on the leaf anatomy of species of the genus Manihot with leaves entire and unlobed are also presented here for the first time.
